The SPJIMR Centre for Family Business and Entrepreneurship (CFBE) recently hosted the seventh session of its Research Presentation series, featuring Dr. Spiros Batas, Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Queen Mary University of London, and Dr. Jose R. Godinez, Associate Professor of Management at the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

Their presentation, titled ‘The Dark Side of Family Embeddedness: Family Firms’ Engagement in Private-Sector Corruption,’ explored insights from their recent research published in Business and Society, examining how strong family ties in business can sometimes contribute to unethical practices like corruption. The session sparked an engaging discussion on the ethical challenges faced by family firms and highlighted the importance of governance mechanisms to mitigate such risks. Attendees gained valuable perspectives on navigating the complexities of family embeddedness in business settings.
