Carrying legacy forward: PGPFMB batch 35 Graduation Day

January 30, 2026

As the new year began, its first month closed with pride and promise as the SPJIMR PGPFMB programme marked its 41st graduation ceremony, celebrating batch 35 with gratitude and hope. Another cohort of family business leaders stepped forward, ready to build enterprises that generate employment, strengthen communities, and contribute meaningfully to India’s GDP. Adding warmth to the milestone, the campus came alive with visible euphoria as students reunited with their batchmates after more than six months, sharing conversations, memories, and a renewed sense of camaraderie.

The class of 2026 completed an intense 18-month journey shaped by rigorous academics, reflection, and responsibility. Since its launch in 1997, the PGPFMB programme has prepared successors of family enterprises to lead with purpose. Over nearly three decades, its alumni have expanded industries, created livelihoods, and reinforced the country’s economic and social fabric. Batch 35 now joins this growing legacy.

Chief guest Dr. Jaimin Vasa addressed the graduates. A distinguished entrepreneur and academician, he holds a PhD in management and a B.E. in chemical engineering. As chairman and managing director of Vasa Pharmachem Pvt. Ltd., he is a thought leader in the SME sector, with wide industry experience, influential publications, and active contributions to academia and MSME development.

Dr. Jaimin Vasa reminded the graduates that progress depends on adaptability and continuous learning, and that becoming better human beings must come before becoming better business leaders. His message strongly reflected the values that SPJIMR upholds.

In the convocation address, Prof. Tulsi Jayakumar, executive director of CFBE and an academic and practitioner with 34 years of industry experience, reflected on the transformation of the batch from eager participants to responsible owners and leaders. Her message was unequivocal. Leadership demands character. Enterprises must be built with integrity, humility, generosity, and honesty, while balancing purpose, people, profit, and responsibility towards the planet.

Before the graduation ceremony, the Dean’s Top Five were acknowledged, recognising students who consistently demonstrated excellence in assignment quality, attendance, and overall growth throughout the programme. These students embodied the values the institution seeks to nurture. Congratulations to Mr. Bisman Singh Sethi, Mr. Mohit Raghavendra Reddy Obulampalli, Mr. Vatsal Agarwal, and Ms. Sayyoni Johri.

Prof. Tulsi carried forward the programme’s ethos by noting that as batch 35 transitions from students to alumni, SPJIMR takes pride in its readiness to inherit, build, and sustain businesses that endure across generations. This graduation marks not an ending, but a renewed commitment to nation-building, ethical entrepreneurship, and value-based growth. SPJIMR looks ahead with confidence, knowing that this batch will carry its ideals forward and strengthen India through enterprise.
