My capstone project was specifically about reducing losses. SPJIMR broke my routine of work and gave me the creativity to explore path-breaking solutions. We used AI and technology to predict and pinpoint water loss. The ideas worked. They were implemented in all five zones. It was beautiful how quickly we got results. Water wastage had reduced from 60% to 40% across all zones. Manual inspection was almost reduced to nil. A 16 km inspection was reduced to 1 km. It was scientific. It reduced manpower and time for maintenance and upkeep.
I graduated in May 2023. I was awarded the ‘Global Water Young Professional of the Year’ by The Energy and Environment Foundation, Delhi at The Global Water Awards a couple of months later.
The L&T management announced that they were consolidating the five zones into one and made me its Head. I was heading a 1500 Cr project at the age of 30. The project is in its last phase, and we should be handing it over to the Pune Municipal Corporation in the first half of 2025.
