Released in January 2025, the book ‘Family Business Sustainability Case Studies Across the World’, features Prof. Tulsi Jayakumar, Professor of Finance and Economics and Executive Director, Centre for Family Business and Entrepreneurship, as the lead editor, alongside leading academics as co-editors. It offers insightful explorations of sustainability in family businesses. Prof. Tulsi has also contributed a book chapter (case study), the introduction, and the epilogue.
“This book demonstrates how sustainability is being acknowledged as a critical component of family businesses’ long-term success. By examining various viewpoints and offering real-world case studies, we hope to demonstrate how family businesses may include sustainable practices into their distinctive structures and operations. I am deeply grateful to my co-editors, Elisa Conti, Andrea Calabrò, Adriana Andrea Amaya Rivas, and Yeny E. Rodríguez, whose expertise and collaboration have enriched this work and made it truly global in its scope and impact,” said Prof. Tulsi.
‘Family Business Sustainability Case Studies Across the World’ addresses the reasons why sustainability may vary in family businesses as opposed to non-family organisations and provides a clear framework for sustainability in family enterprises. It offers insightful case studies from Europe, Asia, and South America.
The Casebook seeks to provide learning materials to a) understand family firms’ sense-making of sustainability b) help identify the unique opportunities and challenges Family Firms — as the key organisational forms across the world — face in advancing the global sustainability agenda and c) the pathways that family firms follow in their transition to sustainable organisations. Key highlights include suggested readings and discussion questions that facilitate structured learning.
Congratulations to Prof. Tulsi and the distinguished co-editors for their contribution to this significant work.
