Join Dr. Igor Grossmann for an exploration of AI metacognition

April 9, 2026

The Centre for Wisdom in Leadership (CWIL) at SPJIMR invites researchers, scholars, and practitioners to a series of sessions featuring Dr. Igor Grossmann on Thursday, April 9, 2026. Dr. Grossmann, a Professor of Psychology at the University of Waterloo, Canada, is a world-renowned expert in the foundations of wise judgement, AI metacognition, and cultural change.

As artificial intelligence grows increasingly powerful, a critical question emerges: will our machines become merely smarter, or can they also become wiser? During this interdisciplinary exploration, Dr. Grossmann discusses how human capacities such as intellectual humility, perspective-taking, and context sensitivity can be translated into AI systems. These attributes are essential for navigating radical uncertainty and solving complex, real-world problems.

About our speaker

Dr. Grossmann’s research explores how cultural, social, cognitive, and emotional factors shape decision-making across changing contexts. He leads several global initiatives, including the Social Science Forecasting Collaborative, the International Wisdom Summit, and the Wise Judgement Consortium, aimed at advancing research beyond Western-centric models.

His work appears in leading journals such as Science, Nature, and PNAS. Beyond his extensive research, he serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Psychological Inquiry, Associate Editor of American Psychologist, and co-hosts the ‘On Wisdom Podcast’.
