Integrating Sustainability into Management Education

The Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) India Chapter Chair Chandrika Parmar, Director, SPJIMR DoCC attended PRME India Jaipur Meet 2023 hosted by Jaipuria Institute of Management, Jaipur. She spoke on the topic ‘Integrating Sustainability into Management Education’. She noted that PRME was one such platform which provides a comprehensive framework and guidelines for management schools and universities to develop curriculum that address environmental, social, and ethical challenges, fostering responsible leadership and sustainable business practices among future managers and leaders.
She also moderated a panel discussion on “Incorporating Sustainable Development Goals into Business Education: Focusing on SDG 1 –No Poverty, SDG3 – Good Health and Well Being, SDG 4 –Quality Education and SDG 12 – Responsible Production and Consumption”. The panellists included Bharti Sharma, Associate Professor, ISIM, Jaipur, Maneesha Kaushik, Associate Professor, SKIT, Jaipur, Manisha Choudhary, Manipal University, Jaipur, Namita Jain, HOD & Associate Professor, JECRC, Jaipur, Malvika Bagaria , Director, Faculty of Management, VGU, Jaipur. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students of Jaipuria Institute of Management.
PRME, a United Nations initiative, equips today’s B-school students with the understanding and ability to deliver change tomorrow. It is a framework for the gradual, systemic change in business schools to inspire and champion responsible management education and promote sustainability mindset. SPJIMR leads the UN PRME India chapter in India and facilitates discussions and collaborations amongst key stakeholders to implement PRME’s core principles. Chandrika Parmar, Director of SPJIMR DoCC, is the current chair of the UN PRME India Chapter. DoCC hosts the PRME India Chapter event at SPJIMR every year. This event brings together management and leadership from universities, management schools, corporations, and civil societies across India to promote PRME’s mission.
