The Changemakers Team from Abhyudaya |
|
|
 |
There is fire raging in their belly, and what better way for our "Changemakers" to demonstrate this than with their out-of-the-box solution to help obese children trim down the fat?
Pinky Kumari, Sarvesh Mhatre, Rabiya Lohar, Prem Koli, and Roshni Ansari, five Sitaras from Abhyudaya, participated in the Solve for Society Challenge, which was run by "The Innovation Story" in conjunction with Amazon Future Engineer.
Government/aided school students in Grades 8 through 12 had the opportunity to use technology to address a real-world issue in their neighbourhood and come up with a creative solution while being mentored by professionals in the field.
This tournament was split into two sections. Only 30 of the 232 teams from all around India who took part in this challenge made it to Phase 2.
Our ‘Changemakers’ solution was to make a bi-lingual prototype app with Hindi and English videos to make people aware of obesity and drive home the value of maintaining good health. The prototype App was created in the second phase.
They were ably assisted by a technical mentor, a final year student of IIT, Mumbai, as well as a non-technical mentor from the Abhyudaya team.
Ms. Indra Nooyi, former CEO of PepsiCo gave the keynote address at the awards ceremony where the Sitara team, Changemakers received a special mention. For contributing to Abhyudaya Fund click here
