SPJIMR’s Centre for Financial Studies (CFS) and Centre for Family Managed Business (CFMB) jointly organized a webinar titled, ‘‘MSMEs – Breaking Out of the Chakravyuh’’ on Saturday, 29th August, to discuss the woes faced by the Indian MSMEs in the current economic climate.
The discussion analysed the issues faced by the sector which accounts for 99 percent of all Indian businesses. The panellists shed light on issue such as financing for MSMEs, lenders’ apprehension to give loans to this sector, the adversarial effect of the #Covid19 pandemic on small and medium businesses and the viability of the recently announced fiscal stimulus package by the government.
The panellists highlighted how the MSMEs could adapt to the ever-changing business and economic environment to make far-reaching positive changes to their business models. The speakers encouraged the sector to adopt technology in their processes through digitization, upgrade the skillsets in their organization through better hires, make use of the ever-growing e-commerce market and take advantage of changed spending pattern of consumers.
The virtual audience of the webinar asked a number of stimulating questions on the topic. The webinar was covered widely in the popular press as well.
