SPJIMR Inaugurates its PGDM Class of 2019

June 19, 2017

SPJIMR inaugurated a new batch of its MBA-equivalent Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) programme on Monday,  June 19, 2017, launching 243 participants on a two-year journey that is noted for its academic rigour, international exposure and experiential non-classroom learning.

“More than any other institute, we at SPJIMR believe in shaping the whole human being,” Dean Dr. Ranjan Banerjee said in his first formal address to the batch that will be known as the PGDM Class of 2019. He was speaking about the troika of knowledge, skills and attitude that is a part of the SPJIMR way of teaching and learning.

The formal inaugural and orientation ceremony this morning took off with the lighting of the lamp, a prayer and the ceremonial planting of a sapling that will find a place on the 45-acre SPJIMR campus and grow alongside the participants of the new PGDM batch.

Speaking at the inaugural, Dr. Vasant Sivaraman, Professor and Chairperson – PGDM, said, “During your two year journey here, take the best from SPJIMR and give it your best. Over the years, you will get a chance to build a lot of relationships and keep friendships with people in your batch and the Institute.”

The PGDM programme this year has many firsts. The curriculum has been refreshed following a faculty strategy meet that re-looked at the architecture. This is the first time the programme will have a course in liberal arts and also the first time a large number of textbooks will be given to the students on a Kindle. Every participant has been given a Kindle reader with the prescribed texts pre-loaded.

Representatives of the senior batch (PGDM Class of 2018) introduced faculty members, the honour code and led the participants to an oath.
