PGPM inaugurates Class of 2017

January 4, 2017

SPJIMR’s Post Graduate Programme in Management, popularly known as PGPM, inaugurated a new batch this morning on January 4, 2017.

The 139 participants gathered at the auditorium for a formal ceremony that introduced them to SPJIMR, the Institute’s sharp focus on values and practice and its linkages with the parent organisation, the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.

PGPM is an AICTE approved programme having a 1-year full time residential component, preceded by a 3 months off-campus web learning component. This programme, suited for those with a minimum of 5 years of work experience, seeks to leverage on the past experience of the participants and accelerate their career. This programme includes on-campus teachings and learnings, rural internship, international immersion and various projects, workshops and conclaves.

Speaking to the participants, SPJIMR Dean Dr. Ranjan Banerjee said, “Being comfortable with what you don’t have is the first step to learning. We cannot figure out who we are until we are ready to accept failure. Can you bring out the curiosity and creativity of a child back into the programme? Keep the child alive and find the gaps.”

Dr. Suresh G. Lalwani, Chairperson of PGPM programme, introduced the participants to the programme architecture and summed it up succinctly: ‘We encourage our participants to be proud of who they are. To understand the soul of business and then go for higher opportunities.’

Dr. Nirja Mattoo, Chairperson of Development of Corporate Citizenship (DoCC), gave insights on the rural internships that participants undergo as a part of DoCC initiative.

Prof. Anil Kulkarni, one of the senior most faculty members, laid out the expectations from the participants. He asked them to participate fully in the journey and enjoy the process.
