Overview

The FDP Workshop is designed around the method of writing business case studies and accompanying teaching notes. IIMR and SPJIMR aims at participant-based experience. Both Case studies & Simulation method comprise a very close, comprehensive, and exhaustive investigation of a particular business case. The case method and use of simulation is a participatory, discussion-based engaging way of learning where participants gain skills in critical communication and group dynamics.

Objectives

  • Identify and build a teaching case that suits the needs of your course
  • Craft a teaching note to make the case experience effective for the class
  • Introduction to what it takes to develop small simulations
  • Participants will contribute to simulation and case development and over three months, a case may be released for publication

Dr. Renuka Kamath

Professor, Marketing &
Associate Dean – Full-Time Programmes

Dr. Renuka Kamath holds a Ph.D. from the University of Mumbai, with a research focus on Modern Vs Traditional Retailing. She has a bachelor’s (BSc) and master’s (MSc Prev) degree in Chemistry from Delhi University and Post Graduate Diploma in Management from T.A. Pai Management Institute, Manipal, Karnataka.

With over 3 decades of experience, she worked in the industry for 15 years leading responsibilities in Marketing and Sales within Education and Technology industry. She embarked on her academic career in 2005 and has taught courses including Foundations of Marketing, Marketing Management, Sales and Distribution, Design Thinking, Strategic Marketing, and Marketing Simulations.

Dr. Vasant Sivaraman

Professor, 

Dr. Vasant Sivaraman holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Mumbai. He has completed a post-graduation in Management from the Indian Institute of Management. He is a Professor in General Management, Strategy & Finance at SPJIMR. He embarked on his career in 1987 in Corporate and Investment Banking wherein he worked for 17 years in strategic leadership roles.

He joined academics in 2003 and has pursued his passion for teaching Strategy and Finance at prominent management institutions. He reflects a keen interest in conducting Management Development Programs with senior industry executives and working professionals.

Business Simulation Workshop
  • Session 1: Introduction to simulations (SIMS) and their uses in teaching at business schools.

  • Session 3: Developing the simulate using a spreadsheet program like MS Excel.
