May 15, 2017

SPJIMR’s pioneering Post Graduate Programme in Development Management (PGPDM) on Monday (May 15, 2017) inaugurated its Batch 12 with participants from diverse social sector backgrounds, non-profits and CSR arms of corporates.

The PGPDM programme is a unique offering of the Institute, that offers management education for the development sector.

Speaking to the participants, SPJIMR Dean Dr. Ranjan Banerjee highlighted the significance of management inputs for a sector that is essentially driven by enthusiasm and the passion of volunteers. He said, “The social sector has the passion and the purpose, but it also needs a process. If you are about to build a process, you need the knowledge of a setting. Wherever management can facilitate superior outcomes, we come into the picture.”

“The sum of total knowledge that is outside you is far bigger than the sum of total knowledge that is inside you. In many ways, the future of the country is in the hands of people like you,” he added.

Prof. Rukaiya Joshi, Chairperson, PGPDM introduced the participants to the programme architecture. Prof. Anil Kulkarni spoke to the participants of what is expected of them as part of the PGPDM journey.
