TaSIC 2025: India's First international conclave on Technology

and Societal Impact

SPJIMR, Mumbai, successfully hosted India’s first international conclave on Technology and Societal Impact Conference (TaSIC) on February 21, 2025. The conference brought together thought leaders, scholars, and industry professionals from across the world, to explore the intersection of technology and its impact on society.

In a first-time move ever in the history of academia, the conference integrated students into discussions alongside chief innovation officers, CSR leaders, policymakers, and academics. An approach that allowed managerial talent to get exposed to actual world issues related to sustainable finance, ethical consumer behaviour, and the responsible implementation of technology.

Among the distinguished speakers who provided deep insights into the evolving technological landscape were Prof. Ramayya Krishnan (Carnegie Mellon University); who spoke on the policy implications of artificial intelligence and emerging digital technologies; Prof. Michael Luchs (William & Mary) who dwelled into the concept of ‘wise consumption’ and its role in ethical consumer behaviour; Prof. Young in Yoo (Case Western Reserve University) who highlighted on the shifting digital paradigm and its influence on innovation; and Prof. João Pinto (Católica Porto Business School) who explained the importance of sustainable finance in fostering long-term economic growth.

TaSIC 2025 also featured an ‘Academic Track’ that attracted nearly 60 research submissions on themes ranging from technology’s role in shaping policy and consumer behaviour to its influence on firms and communities.

The event’s additional highlights featured a Think Tank session exploring the potential of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for societal transformation, a ‘Meet the Editors’ forum offering guidance on academic publishing and research dissemination, and the Wise Innovation Awards, which recognized student teams for pioneering sustainable and impactful innovations.
