| News & Happenings | Programs ~ Others (short term) ~ SYB ~ News & Happenings |
Dear All, Hope this mail finds you in best of your en devours. I am sorry for neither writing back to the common mails nor making efforts to keep personal touch. But I read all the mails and was waiting for an opportune time to get back. I am glad to inform you that my journey that began 2 years back and that brought us together for some really memorable and amazing times have reached end of its first phase. My company Indian Retail Services Pvt. Ltd. got incorporated on 5th October, 2009. We are Retail Services Company providing knowledge and retail services to the Retail & Allied Industries in India (Log on to http://www.indianretail.com/ for more details). I have started with Delhi, but eventually will move back to Mumbai. And I also take this opportunity to thank all of you for making great contribution, in helping me make this decision and take this step. I have myself felt lot of changes in me professionally as well as personally after the SYB program. You are my course mates, my colleagues, my competitors, my motivators, my critiques, my guides and more importantly my companions. I don't know what lies ahead of me from here, but if I succeed, I would definitely owe it to your contributions. I am sure some of you, would have a question in your minds about my migration from Health Care to Retail. I am not trying to defend instability in my decision but there were certainly few points during our course, that made me take this course and I would like to highlight them; 1. First and Fore Most: Prof. Palekar, in one of his class said, when you follow an idea and choose a domain, it is of prime importance that you or someone in your team must have Primary Exposure to that domain. In my case it was Health Care and I should have had the primary experience. I was banking on my mother's experience, who is a doctor. But there were reasons beyond my control that I could not bring her in actively. Also, my friends in Health Care industry shared some amazing insights about how Doctors operate. 2. Its about Money - Honey: This is what I think, Now if you don't have the Primary Exposure at least you should have enough money to hire someone who has that. 3. Last but not the Least: Prof. Rao, in one of his class said, an entrepreneur is not an Individual Profile, it is a state of mind, a way of life, he should be very optimistic and should have conviction about his idea, but he should not be stubborn to hold on to it even if it is not happening. An entrepreneur should be Opportunist and should soon ready to adapt to new ideas and let go seeing changes around him (The Good Night Case)........The list is endless. Prof. Rao & Prof. Palekar, I am really glad that I participated in SYB. I don't know how good this mail is, but if you could consider this good enough as a testimonial, please feel free to share with the existing and prospecting participants. Also, please convey my gratitude to all the faculty and guides who made their valuable contribution to our lives. Rahul Dravid
