Pre-class quizzes, classroom discussion, post class quizzes, group discussions,
case studies, deadlines, night outs, projects, end terms- is the life of
SPJIMR? Not exactly. Add to the jokes, laughter, animated and lively discussions
in the group work room, the cozy visits to the night canteen, clatter of
tables. In the bistro, music club performances, dance club practices, cultural
fests, visits to Lonavala, and in general energy that's present in the air
and which reflects on every SPJainite's face, perhaps the picture gets clearer.
Life is learning at SPJIMR. Life is fun at SPJIMR. We climb long stairs
but not one at a time-we hold hands and leap, and we give time a run for
its breath.
Each
day is different from the rest. Whether it's another CEO lecturer or Economic
Times session or a friendly basketball match in the Andheri sports complex
or simply a presentation preparation for the next communication lecture,
we take all in our stride. For us not even change is constant. The year
is full of various initiatives like Nimitt, Khoj, Personal Growth Labs,
Sunday afternoons - these events act as avenues for development of managerial
potential in students in addition to their primary purpose of increasing
exposure and providing knowledge. SPJainites take time out of their busy
schedules and weave moments to cherish out of it.
Group learning and team sprit are the underlying themes, they can be
observed in the classroom discussion, on the playground matches, in the
bistro queues: in short everywhere. Things we know we share, and we strive
together for the things that we want to learn. For us the only place where
success comes before work is a dictionary. "I like to see a man proud
of the place in which he lives. I like to see a man live so that his place
will be proud of him." In all probability Abraham Lincoln wasn't
thinking of us when he said this but even if he were he wouldn't have
been wrong. We know we are different and we are proud of it. SPJIMR is
where life lives.
How
can we forget Mumbai? Enlightening exhibition, electrifying fests, peaceful
walks along Marine Drive or delightful meals in the inimitable restaurants,
whatever may be the mood the city has something to offer. Recreation is
also here. Andheri Sports Complex offers an impressive set of sports facilities
along with substantial discounts for SPJainties. Fame Adlabs, Cinemax
movie multiplexes are located close to the campus (10 minutes auto rickshaw
ride) and are a favorite hangout of many SPJainties. And of course Juhu
and Versova beaches are always there with their ever-enchanting offer
of an evening full of fun and frolic, ending with meals at the student
friendly food joints in Bandra and Lokhandwala. We live in the city of
dreams and we are in sync with its rhythm.
