Dr. Osman Balci

Ph.D. (1981) and M.S. (1978), Syracuse University, Syracuse, New York M.S. (1977) and B.S. (1975), Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey

Experience:

  • Dr Osman Balci has served as the Editor-in-Chief of two international Journals: Annals of Software Engineering, an international journal and World Wide Web.
  • He currently serves as the Verification, Validation and Accreditation (VV&A) are editor of ACM Transactions on modelling and simulation (M&S) category editor of ACM computing reviews.
  • He has been providing technical services for the U.S national missile defence and missile defence agency programs.
  • Areas of expertise include software engineering, e-systems engineering; M&S; VV&A, certification, quality assurance, risk assessment, and credibility assessment of complex systems

  • His research has been published in The Journal of Industrial Economics, Strategic Management Journal, The Journal of Business Ethics, The Journal of Labor Research and many more.
  • He has presented papers internationally for the Academy of Management, the Strategic Management Society, the Institute for Operations Research & the Management Sciences (INFORMS), the Southern Economic Association, and to various universities' seminar series.
  • He has served as a reviewer for the Strategic Management Journal, Organizational Science, Academy of Management Executive, Journal of Engineering and Technology Management, and many others
  • Dr. Hatfield's current research is focused upon how managers can deal with the uncertainty associated with technology and the underlying factors driving geographic industrial clustering

Dr. Parviz Ghandforoush

Professor of Business Information Technology and Director of the MBA Program in Northern Virginia

Education:
Ph.D. from Texas Tech University, and M.B.A. and a B.S.E.E. from the University of Texas at Austin

Experience

  • He is the past president of ISA. He has also served as President, Vice-President/Program Chair, Newsletter Editor, Secretary and Treasurer of TIMS College on Engineering Management (COLEM).
  • He is the co-author of the textbook, Management Science for Decision Makers.
  • Dr. Ghandforoush's teaching interests include mathematical programming and production/operations management.
  • Dr. Ghandforoush is a member of the Editorial Board for Computers and Operations Research, IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, and is the editor of a special issue in integer programming for Computers and Operations Research.

  • SES Secretarial Sabbatical, which funded a year of study and research in the design, implementation, and testing of complex systems

Ph.D. in Management Science, MBA, and BS in Chemistry from the University of Washington

Experience:

  • Dr. Matheson has also been an engineer and production manager for several electronics and metal finishing companies
  • He is a Past-President for the Southeastern Chapter of the Decision Sciences Institute and has held many board positions for the organization.
  • He has been a consultant to the National Institute of Justice in the area of drug testing methodology.
  • Dr. Matheson is the author of the book Statistical Quality Control in High Reliability Systems.
  • His primary research interests are in electronic data interchange, the application of new technologies to education and the use of artificial intelligence to solve manufacturing problems.
