ADMAP: A Creative Approach to Learning Administration Programmes ~ PGDM ~ ADMAP

What is ADMAP

The acronym stands for Assessment & Development of Managerial & Administrative Potential. It is a program unique to SPJIMR where participants participate in the actual functions of the Institute, own up the process of learning and 'learn by doing' or 'by observing', theoretical inputs and by working on projects. It is based on 'doing/observing-feedback-reflecting-integrating- application' process. It is a compulsory course, given high importance in our scheme of things.

Why ADMAP

Whether one is a manager, entrepreneur or a leader, a CEO or a supervisor, administration is a crucial function common to all the roles (understand difference between role & function) that one plays throughout one's career and which occupies a large chunk of time of all practicing managers.

Conventional class room lectures are normative in nature and theories do not represent the complexities of real life managerial challenges. The only way one can learn it is by experience.

Learning Objective: Learning (as opposed to teaching) Administration & Self Development

The real functions of the Institute provide the 'laboratory' setting for learning administration. The students learn to work in teams for:

  • Committees

  • ADMAP Projects with organizations like BMC, Police, Postal Deptt, Hospitals etc

  • Movies as case studies are used to understand and decipher administration

  • Workshops Theatre workshop, In Basket, Six Thinking Hats etc.

  • Celebrity interactions Gulzar, Naseeruddin Shah, Kiran Bedi, Arun Shouri, Anna Hazare etc.

  • Book clubs book readings, interactive sessions with authors, discussion circles are designed to facilitate the accomplishment of learning objectives of the program.

The program gives a one year head start to our students in their jobs. Industry appreciates the program & calls our students 'hands on people' with 'no chip on the shoulders'.
