" My 2 years at SPJIMR have been the defining periods of
my life , in many ways a tipping point in terms of my thinking &
approach . I have learnt 3 important lessons :
Lesson # 1 : 1992 was the year I joined SPJIMR
as a part of the Manufacturing Management program, breaking away
from traditional MMS program of University of Mumbai under the leadership
of Dr Srikant . It was a bold move ..it gave me a big lesson that
it is important to take risks
Lesson # 2 : As we started running the program the institute
we were encouraged with a catch phrase " the onus is on you"
, while some wondered whether institute is shirking away responsibility
for me there was an
important lesson " Take Initiative ... Make Action your Identity"
Lesson # 3 : At SPJIMR we learnt the basics of value
based approach ,In my mind the values of integrity , meritocracy
, mutual respect & simplicity were innocualted in me during
my course curriculum . These help me
even today resolve the most difficult business dilemna's .

I graduated from the institute in 1991, and joined Hindustan Lever.
I have been with the company since, and currently work there as
the Category Head for the Hair care business. I am what I am due
to the transformational period in the institute, in which I learnt
aspects of business and of myself. This period shaped my thinking
as a person, and I have extremely fond memories of my time here.
