Awareness programme on Commodity Futures Market

SBU-FIN in association with NCDEX organized an awareness programme on 'Commodity Futures Market'. The key note speaker was Mr. Rajeev Agarwal, I.R.S. Member, Forward Markets. The seminar sought a positive response from across the courses with about 70 participants attending the same. Mr. Agarwal elucidated on the history and growth of commodities market and threw light on the items traded on the commodity exchanges in India. He successfully brought forth the role this market plays in price discovery, arbitrage, and risk hedging. He acquainted the audience with the Mark to Market approach followed by the exchange where the dealers have to maintain a margin with the exchange as a guarantee against fraud. The session ended with a couple of questions posed by the participants. Mr. Agarwal invited the participants to visit NCDEX and offered them a golden opportunity to get a real experience of how it functions.
