To Sir with Love - Teachers Day Celebrations at SPJIMR

September 5, 2007

Dr. M. L. Shrikant with participants on the stageYet another day in yet another year, but the zeal and enthusiasm to thank the teachers comes up with a renewed vigour straight from the heart. So it did at SPJIMR. It was 4 'o' clock in the evening and all the participants were ready to give the teachers their greatest gift to show them their gratitude. The students of all the programmes were united in their efforts to come up with a plethora of programmes for the momentous evening.

The list of companies included some of the industry giants such as SAP India, IBM, GE, Capgemini, TCS, Wipro, Cognizant Technology Solutions, HP, HCL, RPG, Aditya Birla Group, Honeywell, Frost & Sullivan, Alcatel Lucent, Aricent, ICICI, Siemens, M&M, NCDEX, i2 Technologies and Nihilent to name a few, with GE making the maximum number of offers. The highlight of the programme was Siemens Information Systems Ltd making preplacement offers.

The evening kicked off with a surprise quiz for the teachers, which was modelled in the same way as done while facilitating the learning of the participants. The results o f t h e same we r e announced at the end of the programme. Of course this was to start the occasion on a lighter note!

Participants and faculty applaudThe celebration started with an innovative song that included managerial terms like Porter's strategy delivered in the famous 'Munnabhai n Circuit' style. This was followed by gazal and instrumental performances by students, which kept the audience in rapt attention. As was evident from the shayari on the names of teachers at SPJIMR and a poem exhibiting the importance of teachers in our lives, creativity of the student fraternity knew no bounds.

And then it was time for the students to know the lighter side of their gurus. What followed were brilliant impromptu performances by the teachers, each reiterating the fact that teaching keeps one young at heart.

The programme concluded on a touching note with a video made by participants of PGDSM-MIT with the message - 'A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops' and the recitation of a prayer dedicated to teachers by all student participants in the auditorium. The event reflects the close kinship shared by students and teachers at SPJIMR.
