Workshop on Integrated Services Supply Chain Management

SPJIMR and IBM together organized a one-day workshop on 'Integrated Services Supply Chain Management' at SPJIMR auditorium. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Sesha Iyer, Director SPJIMR, Prof. Sunil Rai, Joint Director, SPJIMR, Prof. Umesh Bahadur, Mr. Mark A Henderson, Programme Director, IBM Work Force Management, Mr. Priyadarshan Deshmukh, Asia-Pacific Sourcing Manager, Technology, IBM Integrated Supply Chain and Mr. Ashutosh Dhanesha, IBM University relations and outreach, IBM India.

The speakers were Mr. Mark A Henderson and Mr. Priyadarshan Deshmukh. They highlighted the importance of integrating the services end-to-end supply chain management, as service sector is the booming sector in all world economies. The event was attended by 250 participants, which included f a c u l t y members from the management institutes in and around Mumbai, the corporate, and student and faculty of SPJIMR who indulged in interactive sessions with the luminaries.

The workshop was successful in meeting its objectives of enhancing the participants ' understanding of how supply chain principles and processes are critical to supporting and d e l i v e r i n g services, and how goods (components and finished goods) availability must be cocoordinated with resources and expertise to meet a service demand. It also helped them to better understand the maturing nature of services based businesses and the emergence of 'Services Science' that will help them market their skills and knowledge in Supply Chain Management across multiple service Workshop on Supply Chain Management based industries.
