SamvaaD - Providing a fresh perspective to management

Samvaad is known to bring a fresh perspective, be it Supply Chain Management, Strategic Considerations in Global Alliances or Business Ethics. Corporate Executives bring with them a world of wisdom, realism and optimism. It has been a fascinating journey so far with enthusiastic participation from some of the industry's best minds and their contribution to the PGPM participants.

I2C, the Industry Interaction Committee from PGPM invited Mr Jiten Sandu, Business Unit Head from i2 Technologies to SPJIMR campus in May 2008. The lecture was on how IT was leveraged strategically for Supply Chain Management. Mr Sandu spoke of the many domains in which Supply Chain operates and how its consequences are changing the business landscapes altogether.

Another lecture which happened soon after was with the Planning Director, Home Care, Asia of Hindustan UniLever Ltd. The guest lecture was given by Mr. Hardeep Singh, an alumnus (1994 batch) of SPJIMR. An extension of SCM, in particular in FMCG, it was a close brush up, for participants, with the business realities of the FMCG sector. Mr. Singh spoke about the various challenges i n FMCG sector and how HUL tackles them. He gave some interesting details about the FMCG sector like 9 Million outlets in the country which sell $ 30 Billion worth of goods.

In June, i2c invited some more eminent speakers from the Industry to speak on Mergers & Acquisitions. The first such lecture organized was taken by Mr. Suryanarayn Iyer, Director - Human Capital Management Solutions in Oracle. He spoke at length about how Human Capital was the most important part of any M&A, giving insights in the area of IT & Management Consultancy.

Towards the end of June, PGPM had an opportunity to meet Mr. Navroz Mahudawala, Associate Director, Transaction Advisory Services from Ernst&Young. Mr. Mahudawala enlightened the participants about the Strategic considerations while going for global Alliances.
