Guest Lecture by Mr. Arun Gupta, CTO, Shoppers Stop

Mr. Arun Gupta, Customer Care Associate & Group Chief Technology Officer, Shoppers Stop Ltd paid a visit to the campus to speak on “Leveraging IT in Retail” with a focus on business and technology trends in this area. Mr. Arun is an eminent personality in the CIO/CTOfraternity, the Economic Times having featured him as “The CIO who never spoke Technology”. He has been a recipient of various awards like the “Best Technology Usage” from the Retail Association of India and CIO Giant 100 Award by the CIO Magazine. Mr. Arun is also on the advisory board of the Magazine. He is a universally acclaimed speaker on various topics on IT and business internationally.

Mr. Arun spoke to the students about the fast growing retail industry and all of the front and back end operations that are important to any company in the retail industry. He spoke about Product and Store Information Management, Replenishment, Workforce Scheduling, Merchandising Management, Visual Merchandising, Point of Sale, CRM, SCM, SRM, Security. After explaining the nitty-gritty's of retail, Mr. Arun mapped his expertise in technology systems to the retail functions and practices.

All in all it was an enriching experience for all of the students, especially for those who would want to pursue a career in the relevant field.
