Dr. Parviz Ghandforoush comes calling

Dr. Parviz Ghandforoush, Professor, Dept. of Business Information Technology, Managing Director of the Master of Information Technology program, and Director of the Northern Virginia Center M.B.A. Program teaches the students of PGDSM MIT, SPJIMR a course on Web Applications and Electronic Commerce. Dr. Parviz Ghandforoush has over 25 years of research, teaching, administrative, and professional experience in information technology and management science and is the coauthor of the textbook Management Science for Decision Makers. He was on SPJIMR campus for the contact classes of the program.

In his interview to student reporter, Dr. Parviz talked about his views on the importance of the convergence of managerial and technical know-how and how beneficial the dual degree program, PGDSM MIT is, to the students and the organizations. He pointed out that more and more organizations are looking for people who have the blend of managerial and technical knowledge.

He said that the students of PGDSM MIT offered by SPJIMR, in collaboration with Virginia Tech, develop the ability to think about the next innovation and technology in the industry and contribute as proactive managers to the organization. Dr. Parviz, the Director of MIT-India program who has been in this program since its inception, said that the program as of today has evolved from what it was three years ago. He added that the students of MIT-India program are prepared to a much greater extent for the course.

Dr. Parviz explained that the students of this course get an opportunity to learn from professors who have done high level research and have published papers. The key advantage of this course, he quoted is SPJIMR and VT the leaders in their respective fields offering the students first hand knowledge of both the worlds. He informed about the Personal IDentifier (PID) provided to the students of Virginia Tech being valid for life time and how the students can avail the facilities using their PIDs.

Dr. Parviz found the Indian students better off and well prepared for the course and commended SPJIMR for its screening process.
