Workshop on APICS Certification

A guest lecture, organized by SPJIMR, was delivered by Mr. Pradeep Khetan, head of APICS Indian Chapter. He discussed and clarified the concepts of SCM and Operation Management on following points:

• CPIM Certification
  
• What is SCM?
  
• SCP Certification
  
• CPIM/CSCP must for ERP/SCM/Operations Management career
  
• APICS-Consulting/ Manufacturing firms
  
• Future of Operations Management/SCM
  

Mr. Khetan gave a holistic view about how APICS Certification helps an Individual to grow in the organization. He emphasized more on IT/Service industries. Further, he talked about the organizations that are in SCM consultancy and implementation. Some of the big players are Atos Origin, Accenture, Bristlecone India Ltd, Cognizant, Cap Gemini Ernst & Young Consulting India Pvt Ltd, Genpact, Datamatics Ltd, IBM Global, Infosys Technologies, I2 technology, L&TITL, Oracle India Pvt Ltd, PCS, QAD, SAP, Satyam, SSA Global Ltd. Many renowned personalities in the IT industry are also APICS certified.

The five Exams one has to give to get APICS CPIM certified are:

1. Basics of Supply Chain Management
   
2. Master Planning of Resources
   
3. Detailed Scheduling and Planning
   
4. Execution and Control of Operations
   
5. Strategic Management of Resources

He also discussed Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) exam wihch gives in depth knowledge in four domains: Supply Chain Management Fundamentals, Building Competitive Operations Planning and Logistics, Managing Customer and Supplier Relationships, Using Information Technology to Enable Supply Chain Management

It was a very informative session and helped the participants of PGDSM MIT to understand about SCM.
