Inauguration ceremony of Second batch of SYB

It was a momentous day for the 11 budding entrepreneurs, 7 of who were accompanied by their partners. They formed the second batch of the Start Your Business Program, of the Center for Entrepreneurship at SPJIMR. The 17-weekend program equips an entrepreneur, with an appropriate mindset, startup management skills and a business plan to convert his/her idea into a profitable and sustainable business. Prof. M Suresh Rao is the program coordinator of the SYB Program.

The batch has an interesting mix of participants, from family businesses background to first time entrepreneurs, to mid-career change executives.

The Dean in his address, reiterated that the SYB Program was aimed at entrepreneurs who needed management education , but conventionally the management institutes did not cater to their needs.

The keynote speaker was Mr. Mahadevan Iyer, an SPJIMR alumnus, founder of Career Launchers. He emphasized the need of management education for entrepreneurs to broaden their vision and to make them a part of the newly evolving and fast developing ecosystem of entrepreneurs. He then invited questions from the audience and put various issues in a real life perspective. Issues of overcoming perspective. Issues of overcoming fear of failure, the first leap of faith and perseverance as key to success were vividly brought out by him.

Following the ceremony, the participants proceeded towards their first class, thus, starting their entrepreneurial journey.
