The bull fight: ethical issues in marketing

SBU Marketing came up with unique event 'BullFight' for fostering the continuing debate about the ethics in marketing. A debate competition Bull fight generated immense interest in the participants.

After the grueling initial rounds four teams were selected for the semifinals. The four semifinalists were Rajiv and Harini (PGDBM 2), Srinath and Anupama (PGDBM 2), Rajeshwari and pallavi (PGDBM 1) and Kirti and Sandeep C.R. (PGDBM 1). The topics for the elimination round were: “Fair and Lovely- Fair or Unfair?”, “Marketing to children is ethical?”, 'neighbor's envy ,owners' pride: the use of jonses mentality is ethical” and so on. All the topics were fresh and contemporary. The participants were buried in their notes and laptops till the last minute to get the much - needededge. The judges were Prof Kamath, Prof.Suranjan Das, Prof Sircar and Prof Bahadur who made the event even more interesting and insightful.

The semifinals of the event were as spicy as expected with PGDBM2 dominating the affairs on most points but PGDBM1 gave them run for their money. The finals were between Rajiv, Harini and Srinath, Anupama. With a fiery topic like 'sales and marketing are the most unethical jobs' both teams tried their best. In the end it was very difficult to choose one winner and the judges declared both teams as combined winners.
