Ehsaas- A DOCC Initiative

October 7, 2009

Celebrating ‘Gandhi Jayanti’ at SPJIMRThe Centre for Development of Corporate Citizenship (DOCC) has been actively involved in organising Ehsaas every year since 2005. Ehsaas, as the name suggests stands for feelings, emotions and sensitivity. The aim is to develop a sense of belonging in the minds of these wonderful, extremely talented special children and give them a day of pure joy. It is also an attempt to make the students at SPJIMR more sensitive to the challenges and triumphs of special children.

This year,DOCCorganised Ehsaas in collaboration with Leo Club of Juhu. The participating NGOs included PODS, Punarvas, Child Reach, Sangini, WITS, Banajee Industrial Home, Spastic Society, Aarushi, Disha Karnbadhir Vidyalaya, Rotract Sanskar, Kalyandeep and Sewa. The event had around 220 people from various NGOs participating which included 180 children.

Ehsaas- A DOCC Initiative The children from different NGOs put up various performances, showcasing their multitude of talents to an extremely encouraging and appreciative audience. The students of SPJIMR and Leo club volunteers had a wonderful time performing for the children. After the cultural performances, the evening unfolded more fun and frolic. Several games stalls were put up by Leo Club and the SPJIMR participants took an active part in volunteering at these stalls. They took the opportunity to interact with the children to let them know how special they are. Fake currency had been issued to the children each time they played a game or won it. At the end, they could exchange the currency for gifts, which gave them a sense of purchasing something they desired with the money they earned. It was an evening of fun and entertainment and everyone leaving with a feeling of joy and contentment.
