Faculty Meets at Khandala to discuss ‘the Next Orbit'

SPJIMR follows a tradition of 'Thursday meetings' where even before the clock strikes nine, faculty member gather at the Lounge for a meeting over breakfast. The tradition not only helps in discussion of important issues, happenings, tasks, and initiatives but is also a platform to share knowledge, views, opinions and accomplishments. However, this July the Thursday meeting happened with a difference when all faculty members headed towards Northpoint Centre of Learning, Khandala for an offsite meeting.

The meeting started with a discussion on the challenges and changes facing management education. The group saw management education as a sector rapidly changing with growing expectations and demands from all stakeholders. The faculty members put for the their views and perception on SPJIMR’s values and the work environment. Management felt that these responses are important to effectively communicate core institutional values and bring all the members on a common platform.

The next day’s discussion focused on the 'Next Orbit' for SPJIMR and how the institution should respond to a dynamic environment of globalising management education. The various work-groups discussed the prosand cons of alternative models, trying to explore which model suited SPJIMR the best in keeping with its institutional strengths and values.

The offsite meeting provided an opportunity for faculty members to set aside their mundane chores, and discuss and interact in a serene and peaceful environment. Such interactions also help redefine and reinforce SPJIMR’s core values and fortify the philosophical tenets that form the edifice of its education system.
