SPJIMR global offers see 150% rise

The domestic average salary at the S P Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) touched a high of Rs 19 lakh during this year’s lateral placements as against Rs 15.5 lakh last year.

The job was offered by GE Commercial Finance. The highest international offer of £43,000 (around Rs 34 lakh) was by ICICI for a treasury position in the UK. Last year, the international offer stood at $30000 (around Rs 13.5 lakh) by P&G in Singapore.

The placement process saw more than 160 lateral offers generated for 65 candidates. By the end of the second day of placements, over 430 offers were generated.

Capgemini varsity in Hyderabad

France-based infotech consultancy company Capgemini, which had acquired Kanbay International and Indigo to accelerate its growth in India, is setting up ‘Capgemini University’ on the 15-acre Kanbay campus in Hyderabad.

“The university is primarily meant to impart technical training to our management employees spread across the globe,” Capgemini India executive chairman, Salil Parekh, told Business Standard, adding the facility would be ready in a year’s span.

Engineering and Tech awards

Agilent Technologies, world leader in test and measurement (T&M) instruments across communications, electronics, life sciences and chemical analysis verticals will conduct Agilent Engineering & Technology awards 2007.

The competition is targeted at B. Tech and M.Tech engineering students across 50 leading engineering colleges in the country. The competition requires B. Tech and M.Tech students to submit their projects either in the field of Electronics & Communications Engineering or Life Sciences/ Chemical Engineering.

The competition is scheduled to begin in February 2007 will involve three rounds of short-listing. The results will be announced in June 2007. The winning team will get an opportunity to visit and interact with world class scientists at Agilent’s best-in-class R&D facility in San Francisco.
