Then from the dew drops of tears
We'll create beautiful rainbows
With the threads of joys & sorrows
We'll weave the fabric of our own life.
Today
we see so many achievers who epitomize every word in this poem - people
who simply threw away their disability to enhance their own life and those
of innumerable others like them. They stand on their own, have self- confidence
and self-respect. "You lack nothing, you are only different "
is the valuable mantra by which they live.
What is life without a sense of touch, feelings!
This is what "Ehsaas" is all about.
An event organized by the Development of Corporate Citizenship (DOCC)
cell of the S P Jain Institute of management and research "Ehsaas"
is a forum where the participants of the B-school interact and mingle
with differently abled children, not to sympathize with them or pity them
but to learn from them the power of the human Spirit/mind and will. To
play with them, laugh with them, dance with them, sing with them and just
to be with them to make them feel that they are as important a part of
this society as we all are.
On
21st January 2009 , SPJIMR auditorium was filled with joy, happiness,
fun.About 350 differently abled children from Ten organizations participated
in the cultural evening.
The evening began with the lamp lighting and
invocation prayer. Children and SPJIMR participants swayed to the foot
tapping numbers. Enthusiastic participation, impromptu performances with
all inhibitions shed and nothing but just enjoyment made the evening a
memorable one.
The cultural evening was followed by a fun fair.
The fun fair- designed, organized and manned by the SPJIMR participants
along with the Leo Club of Juhu, had dozens of games and activities in
which the participants and the differently abled children from various
NGOs like Punarvas, Save the Children, Parents of Downs Syndrome (PODS),Sashi
Mangalyam ,M P Shah Trust etc took part together. The funfair also had
NGOS like SEWA, Sashi Mangalyam, Save the Children, PODS who displayed
products made by their students.
We
cannot say what a difference Ehsaas is making in the community!"
, but it will certainly help the kids rebuild their self-esteem."
This is also an attempt to foster sensitivity among participants, which
is in continuation of our earlier efforts like the visit to Anandvan Ashram
and the Social Impact Awards.
It brought so much joy, as well as, esteem to
each child as they participated and received gifts. We will never forget
the looks on the children's faces when they recieved their prizes. The
gratitude in their eyes will stay with us forever."
