S.P Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR, Mumbai) and IBM have collaborated together to establish the SSME Centre at the SPJIMR Campus on 16th July 2008. This centre is the first ever unique establishment of its kind to promote the design, development and deployment of services in various industries.

The event started with the inauguration of the SSME lab with the ribbon cutting ceremony. It marked the launch of the Service Science Management and Engineering Lab and Training Centre at SPJIMR. The event was attended by a high profile panel from IBM India and covered extensively by the media. This was succeeded by the presentations on the SSME concept and the collaboration between SPJIMR and IBM. Faculty members and IBM delegates presented their viewpoints on this initiative and the road ahead. The event concluded with the MOU signing ceremony.
