Supply Chain Management:
SCM is a set of approaches utilized to efficiently integrate suppliers, producers, stocking centers at all levels so that services are delivered in right quantities, to the right requirements and at right time in order to minimize system-wide costs while satisfying service level requirements. The need of the hour is focus on quality, reliability, speed, delivery and service levels.

Supply Chain Management is a proven business strategy in manufacturing sector that has gained wide acceptance in recent years due to increasing customer demands for quality, delivery, and speed. Services sector, with the maximum contribution to world GDP is also attracting the attention of Supply Chain Management. In this context, IBM in association with SPJIMR had organized a One-day workshop on "Integrated Services Supply Chain Management" at SP Jain auditorium on August 7, 2007.

The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Sesha Iyer, director SPJIMR, Prof. Sunil Rai, Joint director, SPJIMR, Prof. Umesh Bahadur, Mr. Mark A Henderson, Program director, IBM work force management, Mr. Priyadarshan Deshmukh, Asia pacific sourcing manager, Technology, IBM integrated supply chain and Mr. Ashutosh Dhanesha, IBM University relations and outreach, IBM India.

The speakers were Mr. Mark A Henderson and Mr. Priyadarshan Deshmukh. They highlighted the importance of integrating the services end to end supply chain management, as service sector is the booming sector in all the world economies.

The participants included faculty members from the management institutes in and around Mumbai, corporate and student and faculty of SPJIMR. In all there were about 250 participants, who had come to attend the workshop battling heavy downpour.

The response of the participants was very enthusiastic which came out in the form of interactive sessions.
