  Workshop on Resource Mobilisation for CEOs of NGOs  
   

Two day workshop on Resource Mobilisation & Management for senior functionaries of NGOs was organized on the 3rd and 4th of March 2008 by the Centre for DOCC of SPJIMR along with Resource Alliance, UK. with the support of Ford Foundation .It was organised keeping in mind that non-profit NGO leaders need to exercise more leadership in fundraising and have a better understanding of issues such as strategic management, measuring impact, governance, financial management etc and to treat these as some of their primary responsibilities. A workshop on Resource Mobilisation & Management targeted at heads of non-government organisations was the first of its kind in India and received overwhelming response from the participants.

The key topics covered in the workshop include the following:

  • Role of Fund Raising
  • Strategic Management of Non profits (Alignment of mission, vision and resources to build a thriving organization)
  • NGO Board & Governance
  • Accountability & Transparency
  • Negotiation Skills
  • Financial Management
  • Monitoring & Evaluation

The sessions were designed as a participatory programme to build-upon the experiential knowledge of participants. They were highly interactive with group sessions and exercises. The participants were divided into teams for group work. They evinced keen interest and showed full understanding of the concepts and principles.

Around 23 participants from 24 different organisations across the country attended the training program. The participants came from a wide range of non government organisations such as Action Aid, Dignity Foundation, Family Planning Association of India, Sense (India),Sama Foundation and others.

The course facilitators were senior faculty members from SPJIMR,Mal Warwick-Chair Resource AllianceUK and Fund Raising experts from prominent NGOs.

The participants opined that a workshop of this kind is highly beneficial to them to fine-tune their knowledge in this arena. They also stated that the faculty was highly knowledgeable and experts in their field and the workshop was an excellent platform for learning and networking.
