S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR), one of the top ten B-Schools in India recognizes the pivotal role of entrepreneurship as a driver of growth in our economy. SPJIMR has set up the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and has partnered with the Wadhwani Foundation to launch the National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN).

NEN is targeted to inspire, educate & support entrepreneurs. It is a launch pad for new high growth entrepreneurs, who will create hundreds of thousands of valuable jobs in India.

NEN is a network of academic institutions across India performing research and development and delivering world-class education, skill-building programs, networking activities and company-starting assistance to new, high-growth entrepreneurs.NEN was launched in 2003 through an India-wide selection process to choose the five founding NEN Partners to anchor this network. The five founding NEN Partners are:

  • Birla Institute of Technology and Science - Pilani
  • Indian Institute of Technology - Mumbai
  • Indian Institute of Management - Ahmedabad
  • Institute of Bio-informatics and Applied Biotechnology - Bangalore
  • S P Jain Institute of Management and Research - Mumbai

NEN is an initiative to inspire, educate and support new entrepreneurs. Over the next five to ten years, NEN will grow into a network of 50 entrepreneurial development centres across India. Each centre will perform research in entrepreneurship, offer courses and skill-building exercises, promote networking activities and provide mentorship to aspiring entrepreneurs - talented and skilled individuals who seek to build high-growth organizations

Dr. M L Srikanth - Dean, SPJIMR, said, "We see our relationship with NEN enhancing the operation of our activities along all dimensions through collaboration with member institutions."

Prof. M Suresh Rao, Chairperson of Centre for Entrepreneurship (SPJIMR), added "NEN can enable member institutions to 'scale and scope' up their entrepreneurship development program through collaboration, thus providing a wider set of students the opportunity to realize their entrepreneurial potential. The outcome can only be beneficial to the country through faster and broader based wealth and job creation."
