The Entrepreneurship committee (called "Entrecom") is formed
from the 1st year students under the ADMAP program of the PGP curriculum.
The Entrecom's vision is to create and spread
awareness about entrepreneurship within SP Jain and to as many external
students as possible. It aims at providing a direction to budding entrepreneurs
who intend to take up this challenging career.
The committee undertakes several activities like
- Scheduling lectures and workshops by successful entrepreneurs and
Venture capitalists. Distinguished entrepreneur alumni are also invited
to share first hand experience after their graduation.
- Organizing competitive events like the "Elevator Pitch Contest"
to boost creativity of the students and help them make the best pitch
to a VC.
- Annual publication for updates about the latest on entrepreneurial
activity at SPJIMR and other NEN Centres.
- The committee plans to organize an annual event on entrepreneurship
at SPJIMR called "SPJ50k". The SPJ50K Contest shall be open
to participants of the Top Ten B Schools in India and to the top 3 in
Mumbai, excluding the host institute. A formidable panel of entrepreneurs,
VCs and innovative minds will judge the prize worthy business proposals
among the 5 qualifying presentations made before an audience of B School
students of Mumbai.
- Apart from these, Entrecom actively contributes to the activities
of the National Entrepreneurship Network (a network of academic institutions
across India promoting entrepreneurship) and assists them in the organization
of their annual flagship event the "Lock Stock And Trade".
