SPJIMR and Standard Chartered Bank Join Hands for a Cause SPJIMR and Standard Chartered Bank Partnership for HIV AIDS Awareness "DOCC Committee of SPJIMR and HIV Champions had organized the Living with Aids Program, in association with Standard Chartered Bank on 11 September, 2009. The occasion marked the forging of a new alliance between SPJIMR and Standard Chartered Bank; a first in India. The Honorable Dean Dr M L Shrikant and Geraldine Matchaba, Head of Corporate Affairs, Standard Chartered, signed a pledge to further the spread of HIV/AIDS awareness among the youth. Social Impact Award (SIA) 2009: The Social Impact Awards were instituted to recognize and appreciate those success stories in the social sector which reflect the interdependencies of business practice and showcase their impact on society. The India NGO Award stands for sustainable social change that can be brought about by bringing the civil sector into multisectoral partnerships which maximise impact and its accountability. The Award is a Joint initiative of the Resource Alliance and The Nand & Jeet Khemka Foundation. S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research is their local Partner from the West region. Voluntary organisations and NGOs are enthusiastic to be a part of the process, which is evident from the increased number of entries this year. The winners of the India NGO Awards 2008 were announced at an Awards ceremony in New Delhi on 30,March 2009. The National winners:
The Centre for Rural Development from Guwahati was also awarded a Special Recognition for The Rickshaw Bank Project Innovation. Addressing the occasion, Ms Syeda Saiyidain Hameed, Member of the Planning Commission and Chief Guest at the event said, "The India NGO Awards is a unique and much awaited initiative. In the short period of two years, the Award has been able to attract a diverse group of stakeholders to support it. Objectives of the Award have synergy with the National Policy on the Voluntary Sector (2007), piloted by the Planning Commission. I am happy to have been part of the Advisory Committee for the Awards. I wish to congratulate the Nand & Jeet Khemka Foundation and the Resource Alliance for their efforts and commitment towards making the sector more sustainable and accountable."
