SPANDAN'07 the annual alumni reunion of SPJIMR was held on Dec 15, 2007 at the institute. The alumni turnout was 225, which showed that the alumni network of SPJIMR is on an exponential growth. The event started off at 6:00 pm with lots of alumni pouring into the campus along with their family with exuberance and enthusiasm.

The event started off with the lighting of the auspicious lamp by the Director, Dr. Sesha Iyer, Dr. Kshirsagar, Mrs Varsha Parab and an alumnus of SPJIMR. It was followed by the invocation song by Nivedita Ramesh and Jyothsna, current first year participants.

Following was the welcome speech given by Salonee representing Alcom.

"We are joined here today in a reunion, between you and your former classmates and between you and your alma mater, in the institute that has helped you to shape your future. This is a reunion of the members of the SPJIMR family. As in other premier institutes, an alumni event such as this offers you an opportunity for re-establishing old ties and meeting new family members. It also provides you with an opportunity for visiting familiar residences and classroom buildings that evoke nostalgia. I am sure that many of you after this reunion here will form new friendships, or create new career opportunities.

When you entered the SPJIMR campus this evening, you would have noticed physical changes in the campus. Constant infrastructural and technological changes are solicited by us. Our greatest assets lie in our people - the participants, the faculty, the staff and you, the alumni. You are a critical part of our family. From the moment you enrolled as an SPJIMR participant, you became a part of our family, and you remain so today. So once again we all welcome you for this auspicious occasion. "

Dr. Sesha Iyer then addressed the gathering stressing on the importance of alumni strength of an institution. He stressed on the specifics of how exactly the alumni network could be improved. Following this was a presentation about the tasks and future plans of the Alumni Committee by Shreyas, on behalf of Alcom 07.

The felicitation function then started with Dr. Sesha Iyer and Professor Kshirsagar felicitating the batches of 1992, 1997 and 2002. It was a moment of nostalgia and pride for all the alumni as they were invited for felicitation by their testimonials and nicknames. Mr. Akhil Chaturvedi(batch of 88) from the Mumbai Alumni Chapter updated the proceedings of the Mumbai Chapter. Mr. Muralidharan and Ms. Purvi Shah spoke about their experiences in SPJIMR and thanked ALCOM for organizing the event on such a grand scale. The felicitation ceremony concluded with Professor Kshirsagar addressing the alumni and Vinay Trivedi from Alcom 07 delivering the vote of thanks.

Spandan'07 also witnessed the launch of "Future of the Past", book authored by Mr. Alpesh Patel (batch of 2000). It was inaugurated by Professor A.B.Kulkarni. The event came to a happy end with a sumptuous dinner and with the alumni reminiscing their past and sharing the joys of present.
