Walk Down Memory Lane
a) Rajesh Panda class of 2000
He has sent us a very sweet and motivational letter , which
we are adding to the class notes to share with all our alumni the
fact that they are family to us.
Well as of me, I am from the batch of 2000. I am presently with
HCL Singapore in a Business Development role for Asia Pacific.
We look after software solution sales in the region. Immediately
after graduating from SPJIMR, I started SPJIMRNet egroups, which
is our Alumni initiative, and from then on it has really grown in
strength to 735 odd SPites today. You guys must really strive hard
to build a strong forum and retain it.
When we graduated, Dr. Shrikant had to say 3 things for success:
"Whatever you do...
1. It should be.. Unique
2. You should.... Excel
3. You must be able to sustain ...Sustain
I am simply trying to apply this to the alumni work. I hope you
guys can take this initiative forward. All the best!
Life in Singapore is great. I am here with my wife Radhika. Radhika
is also from SP Jain (2001) and is with P&G Singapore. There
is no one from my batch or Radhika's But there are around 40 alumni
here at Singapore.
In fact, we are the youngest couple over here and the youngest parents
to be (in December). Have taken a nice flat with a swimming pool,
gym and squash court!! - things rare in India. So all in all enjoying
life !!
Some facts about Singapore :Its 1degree north of the equator and
is 2:30 hrs ahead of India. It is a small place with very good public
transport (bus and train). Its airport, Changi Airport is the best
in the world (ahead of JFK, US). There are close to 2000 corporate
headquartered here. Mostly IT and consulting firms. In fact, HP
has 6000 employees in Singapore - one of the mass recruiting companies
in Singapore. However the economic and IT slowdown has surely taken
a toll of the industry.
b) Riaz M. Raihan, SPJIMR Class of 1998
After 3 years at Accenture, Bombay (1998-2001) I moved to Cap
Gemini Ernst & Young (CGEY), Toronto, Canada in May 2001, as
Senior Consultant, E-Business Strategy. In May 2000, I married Arshi,
who is a graphic artist and designer. Things have gone great for
us in Canada. Within a year at CGEY, I was promoted to Manager,
Strategy Consulting (Energy Sector). I am managing a couple of multi-million
dollar business transformation projects and 2 teams of 18 and 6
members. CGEY has also given me the opportunity to be Account Manager
for a leading North American oil company. My wife runs a successful
art design business, and we bought a beautiful house last year.
This fall, my younger brother Irshad (IBM, Pittsburgh, PA) is marrying
my wife's younger sister, Saba (British Gas, London, UK). The inter-continental
couple plans to live in the US.
I'd like to say a big 'thank you' to SPJIMR for the well-grounded
education in management and the business of managing people: two
vital skills that I draw upon every day in the workplace, and interestingly
enough, at home!
c) Rajesh Paradkar class of 1995
I recently moved to Colombo for an eighteen months assignment.
Wondering if anyone from SPJIMR is based here or makes routine visits
here. Would like to use this, as a forum to get in touch with the
alumni gang.

I am in HCL Tech ie. HCL E Serve Technologies, ,in the area of
BPO and Call Centers. I am looking after the business development
in the European Markets as well as the offshore account manager
for BT.
Life is fun as we started with about 50 people and we should be
a good 1000 people by June '03 . Therefore, it is a high growth
area right now with business comming in thick and quick . In addition,
the work responsibility is superb and probably the best I could
have got .
