Dr. ShrikantParikh'sVisit toIBM’sAlmadenResearchCentre

SSME is a thought-leading initiative from IBM focusing on Service Systems. As a part of SSME, Dr. Shrikant Parikh of SPJIMR was invited to IBM's Almaden Research Centre in San Jose, California under the visiting scholar programme. The Center is one of IBM's eight worldwide research labs. Its scientists perform basic and applied research in computer science, services, storage systems, physical sciences, materials science and technology. Their researchers invented the relational database, establishing the emerging discipline of service science, in addition to being referred as "the KittyHawkof nanotechnology"

Dr. Parikh had a long stint with IBM (USA) where he was part of several high-tech product teams. Through this visit he had the opportunity to meet the top league researchers at the center and got a firsthand understanding of the state of the art research. He was part of some of the brainstorming and idea generating processes at the centre. Dr. Parikh's visit to the world class research center was a step towards promoting service science research and improving SPJIMR's relationship with the industry as a whole.
