Team Kleos of SPJIMR wins Genesis'09:  The GE Day Campus Challenge.Team Kleos of SPJIMR wins Genesis'09: The GE Day Campus Challenge

Team Kleos of SPJIMR, comprising of Amitoj Singh, Archit Singhal, Lisa Maria John and Palaniappan N, won the Genesis 2009, an inter-campus contest organized by GE. GE Day is a business exhibition that showcases GE's innovative products and services, and provides a forum for people to share the ideas and strategic initiatives.

Two challenging themes were posed to the students: "India Security – Integrated Building Security/Surveillance Systems" and "Integrated Renewable Energy Solutions for India". Team Kleos chose to excel in "Integrated Renewable Energy Solutions for India".

The teams were judged on the basis of five criteria: Innovation and Novelty, Depth and Clarity of Thought, Feasibility of the Solution, Compilation and the Quality of Presentation.

Of the 50 teams that participated from the best B-schools across the country, 26 teams, including 4 from SPJIMR, advanced to the semi-finals. The semi-finalists had to present their ideas before an eminent judging panel comprising GE's senior leadership across businesses. The judges were thrilled with the quality of research and analysis done by all the teams. But, in the end, it was Team Kleos of SPJIMR, that emerged as the clear winner.

PGDM students (2009-2011) of SPJIMR walked away with the first place at the prestigious INGEN- B Plan Event organized by IIM Bangalore, an event that enjoyed a participation of over 400 teams from various B-Schools across the country.

The team, that befittingly called itself ‘Dare2Soar’ ,comprised of Mohammed Irfan Kabir, Harit Rawal, Priyanka Priyadarshini and Preethi V from PGDM-09. The theme for this year was ‘Small is Big’ and the team did make it big with the winning plan primarily focussing on the Sewage System.

PGDM participants of SPJIMR proved their mettle yet again as they aced the prestigious SYNC-QUEST case study contest at the LITMUS event organized by NITIE. Litmus essentially provides a platform for Ivy-League B school students to tackle the most crucial issues which the business world faces today.

Santhosh Kumar C and Palaniappan Narayanan of the batch of 2008-2010 formed the team “Endeavour" that battled it out with the best brains across the B-schools of the country .Their solution to problems faced by the industry in the field of IT management impressed the eminent jury and fetched them the coveted first place among the five entries that were short listed to the final round.


23rd Jan'09: ET CitiGrandmasters, conducted by The Economic Times and Citibank, is India's premier B-School challenge, a multi skilled competition; it featured 6 gruelling rounds - 4 rounds of a Management Quiz, One round of Debate and a unique round where one member of the team played quiz master for one round. SPJIMR's team, consisting of Aditya Gupta and Harish Sridharan (First Year participants in the PGDM Program), brushed away the competition from IIM-A, IIM-B, IIT-Delhi and IISWB-Kolkata, to emerge triumphant. They received a trip to Egypt, a Pre-Placement Interview from Citibank along with other goodies.


18th Jan'09: Bikash Agarwal (First Year Participant in the PGDM Program) won "The Next CEO" at IIM- Lucknow's Annual Business Festival Manfest'09. The contest aimed to test leadership acumen, analytical skills, ability to work in teams and handling stress. Bikash competed against Representatives of the Top 12 B-Schools, IIMs, XLRI, IIFT, MDI and SIBM and walked away with a Cash Prize of Rs. 1.5 Lakh.


12th Dec '08: Rishav Jain and Shipra Bhalla (First Year participants in the PGDM Program) were the National Winners for the Annual Business Today Acumen Debate. Speaking on the topic of "Voluntary freeze is a good way to help your company fight slowdown" they stood against the Best B-Schools in the country. BT Acumen is an Annual Inter B-School Contest organised by Aditya Birla Group and Business Today.

 

Achievements by SPJIMR Participants (2008-09):

  • Team of VijayKumar TM, Gopalakrishnan S and Ramakrishnan N performed brilliantly in L'Oreal EStrat- an International Marketing Simulation Event conducted by L'Oreal. They were the Best Team in India based on their performance and Business Plan. A summary of what they achieved,
    1) Overall 5th Rank in the South East Asian Zone.
    2) Top ranked team from India with a Stock Price Index of 1932
    3) Business plan was ranked 18th amongst the Top 20 business plan across the world. (Ranked the Top in India)

  • Two teams from the First Year PGDM program were amongst the Top 27 teams at Cerebration '09- An International Business Challenge held by National University of Singapore- Business School (NUS). They competed against more than 500 teams from across the globe. The contest required them to work on case studies of top Asian Enterprises. The two teams were,
    1) Amitoj Singh, Nitisha Madangopal Dhawan, Vaibhavi Kamat and Harini VK.
    2) Abhishek Bagwe, Rohan Khanna, Reshmi Mathew and Hareni K.

  • At L'Oreal Brandstorm'09 an International Marketing Challenge conducted by L'Oreal had two SPJIMR teams amongst the top 6 B-school teams in the country.
    SPJIMR team members were,
    1) Aditya Gupta, Harish S, Shwetha Sundaram
    2) Sreelakshmi Hariharan, Sashikala S, Shankha Basu

  • Harish Shridharan and Aditya Gupta, National Winners - First Place at Economic Times CITI Grand Masters 08-09 : Annual Inter B-School Event organised by Economic Times and Citigroup. The two stage event comprised of case study analysis in elimination round, followed by quiz and debate during the finals. It involved the top B-Schools from across the country.

  • Bikash Agarwal, First Place at Next CEO: Event organised by Manfest'09, IIM-Lucknow. IIM Lucknow's flagship event, The Next CEO tested business strategy, leadership and team skills over a period of three days. Bikash emerged winner competing against the Top 12 B-schools of the country.

  • Shweta Sundaram and Sashikala Second Place at Premia: Event organised by Atharva'09 TAPMI, Manipal.

  • Arka Kundu, Bikash Agarwal, Sagar Sharma and Anshuman Agarwal, First Place at Uththan (Social B-Plan Contest): Event organised by Fiesta '08, FMS Delhi. Uththan is an Annual Social B-Plan event organised by the Social Sector cell at FMS-Delhi.

  • Gurveen Kaur Bhatia, Harshita Shah and Chhavi Agarwal, Second Place at Web Wars: Event organised by Fiesta '08, FMS Delhi.

  • Meenu Sharma and Sudha S, Second Place at GyanGanga: Event organised by Fiesta '08, FMS Delhi.

  • Shipra Bhalla and Rishav Jain, National Winners- First Place at BT Acumen 08, Annual Inter B-School Event organised by Business Today and Aditya Birla Group. BT Acumen is an Annual Inter B-School Contest organised by Aditya Birla Group and Business Today and has two categories: Debate and Quiz.

  • Divyabh Buddhiraja and Chetan V , First Place at Adhaar: Event organised by Quo Vadis '08, IIFT Delhi.

  • Asit Sabat, Keshari Sahu and Neeraj Jain, First Place at U-571: Event organised by Imperium, MDI-Gurgaon. U-571 required working on a Business Idea utilising the power of Information Technology. The team's plan on New Traffic Signalling System was well appreciated.

  • Palaniappan Narayanan & Praveen Krishnan, Third Prize, Samkhya: Event organised by Neev'08, SCMHRD Pune.

  • Swapnil Walnuj, Sandeep Verma and Pranav Lele, Top 10 in MouseTrap and Special Invitees for IIM- Ahmedabad, Confluence '09. Mousetrap is a Business Strategy Simulation event and attracts participation from B-Schools across the Globe.

  • Kashif Hasan and Kapeesh Sharma, West Zone, Second Runners Up, Glaxo Smithkline StratEdge '08. Stratedge is an Annual Case Study contest organised by GSK for B-Schools.

  • Shilpi Baral, Ashish Rampuria and Ashish Agrawal, First Place, Prometheus- The Fin God: Event organised by Ensemble '08, XLRI- Jamshedpur.

  • Garima Sinha, Anoop H and Diksha Mangla, Third Place, Concept2Creative: Event organised by Ensemble '08, XLRI- Jamshedpur. Concept2Creative was an advertising event which involved creating advertisement campaigns on the given concept.

  • Manoj Sharma, Nitin Seth and Praveen Gera, Third Place, Samarpan: Event organised by Ensemble '08, XLRI- Jamshedpur. Samarpan is an Annual Social B-Plan event organised by the Social Sector cell at XLRI.

  • Varun Singhal, Siddhartha Sarkar, Satyendra Singh and Ritesh Pal, Third Place, War of Wits: Event organised by Ensemble '08, XLRI- Jamshedpur.

  • Arena is a National Level Annual Sports event organised by NITIE, Mumbai. The SPJIMR team achieved the following accomplishments there,
    " Boys Volleyball Team, First Place
    " Boys Cricket Team, Runners Up
    " Girls Badminton Team- Harshita S Kumar and Hareni K
    " Girls Throwball Team, Runners Up

  • Bharat Garg, Maya G, Nagashree N, and Supriya S, Second Prize at Pratyachna'08: Social B-Plan event organised by IIM- Ahmedabad. The team are going ahead by implementing the plan as a part of their DOCC projects.

  • Rahul Ramchandani and Siddharth Natarajan, First Place, Deloitte Kalpavriksha Case Study Contest: event organised by IRIS'08 IIM Indore.

  • Gurveen Kaur Bhatia, Harshita Shah and Chhavi Agarwal, Second Place at Athenium (Marketing Plan): Event organised by IRIS, IIM Indore.

  • Eman Goswami, First Place at Kaleidoscope (Photography Contest): Event organised by IRIS, IIM Indore.

  • Mihir Modi, Second Place at Kaleidoscope (Photography Contest): Event organised by IRIS, IIM Indore.

  • Palaniappan Narayanan, First Place at the Last Samurai: Event Organised by Prerna '08, NITIE Mumbai. Last Samurai is the flagship event - a 3 day event testing participant's leadership ability and managerial skills. Palaniappan won against competition from the Top-10 B-Schools of the country.

  • Harshita S Kumar and Lovish Jain, Second Place at Tactix: Event Organised by Prerna '08, NITIE Mumbai.

  • Jagnoor Singh, Abhijit Petkar and Pallavi Bhujle, Best Project Award at Lock, Stock and Trade 08-09: Event organised by SPJIMR, Mumbai.

  • Amrut Dash, Best Individual Investor, at Lock, Stock and Trade 08-09: Event organised by SPJIMR, Mumbai.

  • Vijay Pillai and Dhairya Parekh, Western Zone Representatives at NTPC Electron Quiz National Finals, New Delhi.

  • Vijay Pillai and Dhairya Parekh, First Place at ICFAI Trinetra, Business Quiz: Event Organised by IBS, Mumbai.
